By the end of second grade these writing learning targets will be met:
- I can tell long and short vowel sounds.
- I know common vowel teams.
- I can identify prefixes and suffixes.
- I can write an opinion piece that introduces a topic, states an opinion, supports the opinion and has a closing statement.
- I can an informational piece that introduces a topic, uses facts and has a closing statement.
- I can write a narrative that describes a sequence of events through actions, thoughts and feelings.
- I can revise and editing my writing with the help of a teacher or peer.
- I can use digital tools to produce and publish writing.
- I can research and write about a topic I'm interested in.
- I can recall information from prior experiences and provided sources to answer a question.
